The last incarnation of Grand Theft 5 was released way back in 2013. So, it's exciting to learn that the long-awaited chapter 6 could be coming to shelves as a release later this year.
There are currently many rumours in circulation about just how the game will function, what consoles it will play on, and the exact release date. One exciting rumour is that there could be a perfect collaboration of hardware and software released in time for Christmas this year.

GTA 6 Release

Rockstar is the company behind the game, and it was initially expected that GTA 6 would begin development in 2014, however it seems that Red Dead Redemption 2 got in the way and stopped progress. They also needed time to bring Grand Theft Auto 5 to other platforms such as the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It's worth saying at this stage-Please do not get too excited, because normally when a game is announced (which happened for GTA 6 recently), there is at least a year before it actually comes to market.

This would mean that it is not due out until 2021, however there are some thoughts that because of the impending release of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X,  Rockstar could be planning to coincide and create an absolutely legendary Christmas gift.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X

Our friends at game.co.uk have the latest information for these brand-new consoles, and both are due for release by the end of the year. To have a look at what we know so far about PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X pop over to their site and have a good read. You can also sign up for updates by simply entering your email address, so you can be first in the queue when they come to market. It is believed that these will be the exclusive platforms for the game, but we would assume that it will head to PC within a year or so of release. This means it won't be backwards compatible but what better excuse do you need to get a new console than this.

GTA 6 Play

Of course, the rest of the speculation focuses on what the game will look like, where will it be set, who the main characters are and what the storyline will focus on. The online gossip suggests that GTA 6 is headed to Vice City, which is the alternative Miami used in GTA 3.

Slightly different details have been leaked online, reportedly from an ex-Rockstar employee who seems to have a bit of a beef with the company. This suggestion is that the game will be set in Florida, and the map will be bigger than both Red Dead Redemption 2 and that seen in GTA 5 combined. It is speculated that it will actually cover 3 cities, and these will include the popular Vice City. The remaining locations are unclear, but Liberty City and San Andreas are in the running with fans.
