Samsung Galaxy Note 20: Rumours & Price Update

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra prices have just been leaked today and they may come as a shock. There are four options of handset available.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20
The successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will probably not be called Galaxy Note 11 but rather Galaxy Note 20. Samsung is expected to introduce the new Note model in August 2020. Here you will find information on specs, release date and price.

That's how expensive the Galaxy Note 20 should be
After most of the specs of Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are known, there are now also indications of the prices. Leaker Ishan Agarwal has published the alleged prices for all models in Europe on Twitter .

Here are the prices of all the models:
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 4G (256 GB): 999€
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G (256 GB): 1,099€
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G (256 GB): 1,349€
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G (512 GB): 1,449€

As suspected, there is a decent price difference between Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. But in the responses on Twitter there is a lot of criticism given the high price for a smartphone with a plastic back and 60 Hz display.

Samsung releases teaser for Unpacked Event

Meanwhile, Samsung released a teaser video for the Unpacked event on August 5th. The devices that Samsung wants to introduce are outlined in silhouettes. In addition to the Galaxy Note 20, it should be the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the Galaxy Tab S7, the Galaxy Buds Live and the Galaxy Watch 3.

Galaxy Note 20 Overview

After the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Roland Quandt has now published data and images on the smaller Galaxy Note 20 on Winfuture . The specs suggest that it should be significantly cheaper than the Note 20 Ultra, especially since a version without 5G should also be offered.

The display is also decent in size at 6.7 inches, but the resolution is lower at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. In addition, it only has a refresh rate of 60 Hz. In contrast to the Note 20 Ultra, the display of the Note 20 should be flat and not protected by Gorilla Glass 7, although there is no further information about the material used instead.

The back of the Galaxy Note 20 should also consist of plastic, only the frame is therefore made of metal. As with the Ultra model, the Exynos 990 will be used as the processor, but here with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB memory. An expansion via a micro SD card is probably not planned.

In the triple camera of the Note 20, Samsung is supposed to rely on a 12 MP main sensor with large pixels and an ultra wide angle, which also resolves with 12 MP. A 64 MP sensor is used for 3x optical zoom. The laser autofocus of the Note 20 Ultra is omitted here.

The S-Pen is of course also used for the Note 20. However, it should have 26 ms latency here. Other features such as game streaming with the Xbox Game Pass or Wireless DeX are offered with the Note 20 as well as with the Ultra model.

In marketing, Samsung should focus on productivity and gaming. The first is the S-Pen with a response time of just 9 milliseconds and the wireless connection to an external display with Wireless DeX. For gamers, the Note 20 Ultra should become more interesting through cooperation with Microsoft. Because the smartphone should be optimised for game streaming via Xbox Game Pass and thus make more than 90 games playable via the cloud.

Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra in 360-degree video

The well-known Leaker Evan Blass has now published two 360-degree videos on Twitter and Patreon, which should show the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. What is particularly noticeable is the flat display of the Note 20, while the Note 20 Ultra has a slightly curved display. Both have a punch hole in the middle for the front camera. This detail was missing from previous leaks on the display. According to the video, the Galaxy Note 20 has a triple camera in a rectangular camera module. The Note 20 Ultra has a periscope zoom, as well as a small fourth lens, which is probably a ToF sensor.

Processor for the Galaxy Note 20: New Snapdragon, but old Exynos

While there was still hope in April that Samsung would equip the upcoming Note 20 smartphones with the new Exynos 992 in the 6 nm process, this now seems to have been shattered. There is currently no evidence of a new Exynos processor, according to Max Weinbach, who examined the current firmware from Samsung. Accordingly, the Galaxy Note 20 should be equipped with the Samsung Exynos 990, which is already used in the Galaxy S20.

The situation is different for the models that are supplied with Qualcomm processors. Because in One UI 2.5 there should be references to the new Snapdragon 865+. This does not guarantee that it will actually be installed on the Note 20 models, but in contrast to the Exynos 992, Samsung is already planning to use the Snapdragon 865+.

In Europe, Samsung typically uses its own Exynos processor for its flagships. The models in the USA, on the other hand, are delivered with Qualcomm processors.
