Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra: new flagship with 120x zoom

  • On August 11th, Xiaomi will celebrate its 10th anniversary and are speculated to be releasing information on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra - with 120x zoom and up to 100W charge.

Mi 10 Ultra Specification

The fact that Xiaomi is still releasing a revised version of the respective flagship model is nothing new. Both the Mi 8 and the Mi 9 have already received a Pro version. The manufacturer generally uses the same design as the lower model to produce an Ultra version.

It can therefore be assumed that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra features a 6.67 ″ curved AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. This time it could be a display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. At first glance of the handset it is hardly distinguishable from the Xiaomi Mi 10. However, a look at the back should be enough to identify the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra.

It goes without saying that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is a top smartphone, so Xiaomi probably opts for the crème de la crème of the currently possible specs. Snapdragon 865 (Plus), 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 memory, stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint sensor and again 8K support. In addition, there is dual GPS, the latest Bluetooth, NFC and a USB-C port, but probably no headphone connection.

Camera

There is still a quad camera inside, but apparently both the design and the hardware have changed. The zoom camera immediately catches the eye, which is marked with a "120X" . So it should be clear that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is equipped with a periscope camera with 120x zoom! That surpasses the 100X Space Zoom of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Further information on the specification can be found: The focal length range is specified as 12-120mm, which is equivalent to an ultra-wide angle camera and a telecamera with at least 4x optical zoom. It is not yet known which sensors are involved and whether the 108MP Samsung sensor will be used again.

Design

The other design features, apparently remain a bit simpler, so far Xiaomi has only teased two colour choices: black and white. However, this is probably a ceramic back on the white version and a transparent back on the black version, similar to the Mi 8 Explorer Edition.

Battery

At 4,500 mAh, the battery is probably just as big as the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro but slightly smaller than the Xiaomi Mi 10. The manufacturer compensates for this with faster charging. There is talk of a 100W Quick Charge, which would be Xiaomi's Supercharged Turbo, introduced in 2019. This would charge the battery in around 20 minutes.

There is also 55W wireless charging capability, with the matching charger presented at the same time. Xiaomi would once again prove its pioneering role in the field of charging technology.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Release Date

We only have to wait until August 11th, to get the final information about the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra. So we cannot yet say when the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will appear in Europe. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will almost certainly be expensive, with the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro already starting around £1000. Since the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra (£1300) and the Huawei P40 Pro Plus (£1350) are direct competitors, the Mi 10 Ultra should definitely cost over £1000, but be cheaper than the competition models.

As soon as we have more information, we will of course update you.
