iD Mobile Phone Deals

iD is another of these Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) and has been operating in the UK since mid-2015. iD is wholly owned by the Dixons Carphone group and so you will often see their products on sale from branches of Dixons or Carphone Warehouse. The backbone of the iD network is the Three network and therefore you will get coverage wherever you find Three’s services. iD offers a wide range of handsets and deals all running on the 3G and 4G networks. Though they are sure to branch out into the 5G space in the near future. They're a great choice for mobile users in the UK.

iD Sim Only Deals

The supply of SIM-only deals is one of iD’s core features. They have a huge number of SIM-only deals for customers who want the luxury of a 30-day rolling contract. This makes them a great choice if you already have a handset that you like or you are considering upgrading from a pay-as-you-go SIM. You are able to pick the deal that suits you best with a range of minutes, texts and data on offer. They also offer several ‘time-limited’ SIM-only deals that usually offer a great discount on some of their standard prices, you just need to jump in quick to get them. They have SIMS that range from a low-cost option with limited data and minutes, through to the fully unlimited all you can eat SIM deals. It is all down to what you want. One good thing is that you get unlimited texts no matter which package you choose.

iD Extras

iD doesn’t offer much in the way of extras. Whereas some network providers look to hook you in by providing ‘free add-ons’ like Netflix, Spotify, or Amazon Prime, you will find those that do generally charge a slightly higher monthly price, which means you are, in fact, paying for it in other ways. iD instead choose to keep prices as low as you want, though you will still find the odd free gift bundled in. So whether you go for a SIM-only deal or one of their great handset deals then you know you are always going to get a good price.

iD Coverage

As mentioned before iD mobile piggybacks off the Three mobile network, which means you get great coverage throughout the UK wherever Three have service. It is always a good idea to check the coverage before you purchase and like most network providers iD has a network coverage checker on their site.  Just go to https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/coverage and you will be able to see what your area is like for 4G and 3G networks. If you live in an urban area then you are likely to get a really good signal wherever you are, however, if you are more rural it is worth checking the coverage in your area so that you know who is the best network to go with. iD doesn’t provide 5G yet, but the information will be updated on their website when they make this switch.

iD Roaming

Using your phone abroad can often be a hidden cost that you didn’t realise. Thankfully iD mobile is part of the agreement that currently exists to allow users of UK mobiles to use their phone in any EU country without it costing them any extra. Any calls made from the EU are treated exactly the same as in the UK, so you can still use your allowances whilst you are travelling. If you are planning on travelling outside of the Eurozone then you will incur roaming fees when using iD mobile and these can mount up pretty quickly if you are not careful. Currently, iD doesn’t offer any specific international calling packages so you might want to look for a different SIM if you are going to be abroad quite often.

iD Customer Service

iD has great customer service and you are able to get in touch with them to sort out any problems on your handset or with your bill. They have a great online community that is often updated with the answers to common problems or questions you have about your device. Otherwise, you can give their friendly and knowledgeable customer service team a call and they will be able to help you out in no time. You are able to contact them for free via your handset or get in touch with them through the contact page on the website.

iD Tariffs

iD has a number of different tariffs available and they are all based around a standard 24-month contract with a handset. The variety in deals means that you can choose exactly how many minutes you want and how much data you need for your device. As mentioned before every deal includes unlimited texts so for those of you that are fast on the fingers then this is a real help. You can get data packages right through to totally unlimited everything which is fantastic if you want to know exactly how much you are going to pay each month and don’t want to worry about going over any allowances. This means that no matter what your budget or handset desires you will be able to find the right deal for you.

iD Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi calling is a great feature that was introduced with newer devices and faster network to help overcome the problem of poor network signal particularly when you are inside buildings such as your home. This allows you to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi hotspot or your home broadband connection and then use that to make calls and receive texts as you normally would on your mobile network. This gives you amazingly high-quality calls even when there is no network. What’s more, because you are connected to the Wi-Fi you are able to use your device to check emails, send a message and browse social media whilst you are taking the call without interruption.

iD Tethering & Hotspots

If you find yourself in a situation where you need a Wi-Fi signal and you are out in the middle of nowhere, then you can turn your phone into a mobile hotspot. This great feature can be enabled by just a few clicks of a button. Once you have turned it on then your phone will broadcast a Wi-Fi signal that allows up to 8 devices to connect to it. This is great if you need to send a quick email or download something to a laptop or tablet and there is no Wi-Fi around. Just be aware that it uses your data allowance so you don’t want to use it too much otherwise you will end up going over your limit.
